Backs Down Totally Jewish3 July, 2002
 The British Medical Associations (BMA)
national conference this week backed off from debating two proposed
anti-Israel motions. One had included a call to condemn Israel and its armed forces
for targeting doctors, hospitals, paramedics and ambulances in occupied
Palestine. But a spokesman for the BMA put the change down to a lack
of time. The conference instead adopted a more generalised resolution, stating:
This meeting utterly condemns the targeting of health personnel
and health facilities in conflicts anywhere in the world, and calls
on all combatants to respect the principles of international humanitarian
              law and medical ethics.
