Gul Intisar Saatcioglu just before her re-arrest

Intisar Saatcioglu who had been in prison for one year was freed, 17th October 2004 from ‘Badirma Prison'. She was jailed for reciting a poem against the hijab ban in 1999.

She was welcomed by many activists, writer and relative at the entrance of the city of Istanbul where she delivered a short speech in which she said;

“I have sacrificed one year of my life for my Lord, I hope He has accepted it. I will never give up for fighting my faith even I am to be jailed”.

She was the last member of the Kaya family in prison. Her sisters and mother were released early this year.
