QUDS
DAY
1423/2002
London 1st December
2002
Voice of Quds Day

The child's balloon reads "Save the Children
of Palestine"
Quds Day rallies are held in every capital of the world.
In London, England, the annual Al-Quds Day march this year was
held on Sunday 1st December. Al-Quds is the Arabic for Jerusalem,
the Holy Land. Al-Quds Day was inaugurated as the last Friday
of Ramadan by the late Imam Khomeini 23 years ago as a day of
solidarity with the oppressed people of the world, and in particular
solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians.

On the Sunday following Al-Quds day,
thousands marched from Hyde Park ...

... through central London ...

... a sea of Palestinian Flags ...

..culminating in a rally at Trafalgar Square.
The event was organised by the The Justice for Palestine Committee,
a coalition consisting of the Islamic Centre of England, Islamic
Human Rights Commission, Palestinian Return Centre and other groups
including Innovative Minds.

Speaking on behalf of the Justice for Palestine Committee, Massoud
Shadjareh said:
"The IDF and the Israeli regime as
a whole have used the pretext of 9/11 to target the Palestinian
population of the region with increasing savagery and ferocity.
Indeed, in the name of fighting terror the Israelis have killed
not only children but UN Aid workers.
Reports in the past few days of curfew violators
being forced to strip naked and parade like animals at the behest
of Israeli forces show the level of racism and arrogance that
fuels the Zionist project. The world cannot continue to remain
silent in the face of blatant murder and repression."

Br.Abbasi (left in brown jacket) reciting
the Holy Quran to the crowds
The rally started with a recitation of the Holy Quran
in Arabic by Brother Abbasi. Verses 4-7 of the Surah Bani
Israel were selected, followed by the short Surah, Al-Nasr
(The Help):
In the name of Allah,
the Beneficent, the Merciful
When there comes the help
of Allah and the victory,
And you see men entering
the religion
of Allah in companies,
Then celebrate the praise
of your Lord,
and ask His forgiveness;
surely He is oft-returning (to mercy).

THE
ART OF RESISTANCE

A series of painted canvases reminiscent of the

"True peace is not merely the absence of tension,
It is the presence of justice"

UN Veto
" The deadly silence of the Security Council on Israeli
massacres"

"Stones Versus?"

"The Peace Talk"
The Palestinians have always paid the price
for "Peace Talks" with more land being stolen,
more settlements being built,
more oppression following each peace talk.
Hardly surprising when even the so-called
peace brokers themselves openly work for the zionists

Nureddin
Sirin
Imprisoned For Quds Day

Nureddin Sirin, imprisoned in Turkey
for 17 and a half years for organising a Quds Day rally!
Nureddin Sirin was an editor with the Turkish newspaper
Selam. In the past he had made known his support for Palestinian
self-determination, his opposition to the then illegal
occupation of Southern Lebanon and his criticism of Turkish-Israeli
relations.
In October 1997 Nureddin Sirin was arrested and sentenced
to 17 and a half years in prison for helping organise
a Quds Day rally in Turkey, in the Sincan province with
then mayor Bekir Yildiz. He was placed in solitary confinement
and his properties were confiscated. Reports have emerged
that he has been tortured. In September 2001 he was finally
moved out of isolation, but confiscated properties were
not returned and no one is allowed to visit him.
He managed to smuggle out a message for Quds Day 2002
which was read out at the rally:
He talked of his imprisonment:
"I have no regrets
except one -
that I am not outside to help
fight to free Al-Quds"
The rest of us who are free, who are not imprisoned,
who have the freedom to do something, need to ask ourselves
- what are we doing for Al-Quds?

in prison by Nureddin Sirin
and his fellow political prisoners before he was moved
into solitary confinement and his personal properties
taken away from him.

"Free Palestine"

Majid Ezzir, Palestinian Return Centre
"This
blessed Al-Aqsa Intifada has awakened the world community,
it has given birth to an international boycott of israeli
and american goods that is beginning to bite, not only
in the Arab and Islamic lands, but even here in the heartland
of Europe. People are waking up and discovering the truth
- that every pound spend on American and Israeli produce
goes to the purchase of arms for the murder of children,
many younger than Muhammad al-Durra and Iman Haju. We
will never forget you Muhammad Al-Durra..."

The Zionist should know that for every child they kill
there will be thousands rising up to challenge their injustice..."

THE MOTHER OF SHAHEED
MUHAMMAD AL-DURRA

A reporter asked her: "Would she want this
boy [the unborn boy] to fight the Israelis when
he grows up?"
"As long
as there is occupation, resistance must continue."
she replies.

A father shields his son from Israeli snipers
bullets
Muhammad al-Durra was 12 years old when on 30th September
2000 he was murdered by Israeli snipers as he took shelter
behind his father crouched against a wall. Hundreds of
children have been killed by the israelis, many much younger
like 18 month old Sara al-Haq shot dead in her village
near Nablus only a few hours later, but what made this
killing different was that is was captured on film by
a French cameraman and broadcast for the whole world to
see, the video footage has become an icon of Israeli brutality.
"My son didn't die in vain," said his mother,
Amal.
"This was his sacrifice for our homeland, for Palestine."
Muhammads father, Jamal, says his son died for "the
sake of al-Aqsa mosque". he himself was hit by 12
bullets and received treatment in Iran.
"He is still in pain but his psychological tragedy
is more painful. His son died in his hands and he could
not protect him," his wife Amal told a reporter.

Moments later, the son is dead and the
father severely wounded, hit by 12 bullets.
Since the shooting, he has immersed himself in the struggle.
"I believed in the struggle before the death of Mohammed,"
he says. "The main difference is that I have turned
myself into an ambassador to tell the world about our
struggle."
That sense of calling has taken the al-Durra's to Iran,
Egypt, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates and to the anti-racism
conference in South Africa.
Their home is unchanged - a standard refugee shelter
with a corrugated asbestos roof - is sparsely furnished
with plastic chairs and badly scarred wooden divans, and
they still do not own a telephone. It still looks temporary,
though it has stood here for decades. This is the only
home Muhammad ever knew.
Muhammads mother Amal shares her thoughts:
"These two years have passed like two days,"
"I cry all the time. I've tried to go out, to wedding
parties, but I can't be happy like everyone else. I miss
him all the time."
"When I go to the market I remember how Muhammad
used to come with me."

A mother mourns:
Amal al-Durra, 36, sits besides her son Ali, 8, at their
home
in Bourij refugee camp in the Gaza strip after hearing the
news that her son Mohammed had been shot dead.
She is counting down the days to the birth of the new
son who will bear his name.
I have to bring another Muhammed al-Durra into
the world, she explains volubly. I want to
revive the name and to tell Sharon and the "Israeli"
soldier who killed him that even if Muhammad died, we
can bring more Muhammads into the world. They cant
kill us all.
A lot of Palestinian women who have had sons killed
have got pregnant again. We need many children to come
into a land we have to fight for.
A lot of people said, Give him another name.
They are afraid the same thing will happen to the new
Muhammad. But it has to be Muhammad. He was special, my
favourite son, so lively and energetic.
A reporter asked her: Would she want this boy to fight
the Israelis when he grows up?
"If he felt in the future that he wanted to participate
in the intifada, I wouldn't mind," she replies.
"As long as there is occupation, resistance must
continue.
"I don't push my kids to go out to join in the intifada.
The land is calling them to do so. Kids watch TV and analyse
the situation for themselves. They don't wait for someone
to analyse it for them. For them the picture is clear."

LEBANON

Leader of Hizbullah Sheikh Hassan
Nasrallah
waves to supporters after a military parade
to mark Al-Quds Day in the southern Lebanese
City of Nabatiyeh Friday Nov. 29, 2002
.(Associated Press)
Extracts from the speech delivered by the Secretary
General of Hizbullah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on
the Day of Quds
(29 November 2002):
We meet on the day for al-Quds with the great spirit
of Imam Khomeini(AS), who announced this day as
to become an eternal day that lives in the conscience
of the nation, and this is due to its sacrifices.
It was also confirmed by Imam Khamenei (may Allah
protect him) to maintain the same way and method.
We come to the city of Imam Hussein(AS), and the
city of the martyrs and prisoners, to the city that
was at the frontier for almost 15 years, fighting,
sacrificing, enduring, and offering martyrs including
children, where it made its victory due to the blood
of its martyrs.
Al-Nabatiyah was the city that sparkled the domestic
confrontation with the Zionist enemy early Ashura
1983. We came to this city to be as near as we can
to the frontline and the arena of challenge within
this central celebration of ours, which will move
year after another, from one city to another, in
the various regions of Lebanon, in order to create
for each city and region its presentation on the
day for al-Quds, and create the commitment and vow
to al-Quds, the people of al-Quds, and the Imam
of al-Quds, and that this cause will never be forgotten.

(Associated Press)
On this day we must bring the awareness of this
tacit world to the criminal Zionist procedures which
are demolishing the houses of its original citizens
in the city of al-Quds, and its land, in addition
to the procedures of terrorizing the citizens of
al-Quds to scare them out of the city, which is
surrounded by the armed settlements from all sides
to separate it from the rest of Palestine.

" The international resolutions are applied
only when they benefit the great powers and
the U.S.A., whereas the resolutions that concern
our oppressed nations, and regions, are nothing
but black and white sheets, and the proof
is resolution 425 [calling for Israels immediate
expulsion from Lebanese territory] for which
no one has done anything for more than twenty
years to be applied, and the resistance was
the one that expelled the enemy."
|
| |
What is most dangerous amongst these procedures
is the grave situation encountered by the sacred
places of Christianity, and Islam in Palestine.
Al-Aqsa Grand Mosque has another story, and here
we are talking about a real danger threatening the
first Makkah of the Muslims. This danger is represented
by the attempts made to destroy of this mosque,
an issue that is anxiously awaited by the Zionists,
especially at this time, wherein the so-called Christian
Zionism is controlling the offices of American decisions.
Whoever attempts to read the mind of the Christian
Zionism or Talmudic Zionism, who are planning to
destroy al-Aqsa Mosque in order to build the temple
of Solomon in replacement, will realize that we
are approaching this danger, day after day. This
danger must not be ignored by Arab rulers, Muslim,
Arab and Islamic Nations. Abasing such issue will
encourage the Zionists backed by the American Christian
Zionists to destroy the mosque, whenever they thought
the nation was weak, uncaring, neglecting, and scared;
or a nation whose rulers care for nothing but their
positions. Positions are not sacred; rather it is
al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Church of Nativity.
The Zionists must understand, along with those
who are supporting them, that any damage caused
to al-Aqsa Mosque will cause the eruption of the
entire region. If they want to destroy this mosque,
the nation of this mosque will destroy this usurping
entity, via the blood of the great martyrs, existing
in each house, village, and city, in Lebanon, Palestine,
and all the Arab and Islamic countries.

(Reuters)
The day for Al Quds arrives after more than two
years of the liberation of a great part of our Lebanese
land through the resistance, and arrives after more
than two years of the ignited Intifada, which at
this time is clearly bearing the name of al-Aqsa
Intifada. This occasion confirms that our choice
is clear, and that it is the only choice that will
restore the land, sacred places, and al Aqsa.
The international resolutions are applied only
when they benefit the great powers and the USA,
whereas the resolutions that concern our oppressed
nations, and regions, are nothing but black and
white sheets, and the proof is resolution 425 [calling
for Israels immediate expulsion from Lebanese territory]
for which no one has done anything for more than
twenty years to be applied, and the resistance was
the one that expelled the enemy. Nowadays, there
are tens of the UN and UNSEC resolutions that were
decided concerning al-Quds, and which reject the
inclusion of al-Quds in the projects of the settlements,
and reject what threatens the sacred places, only
these international resolutions remained black and
white sheets.
What restores and protects Palestine, is what the
Palestinian people have chosen, such as its great
martyrs who astonished the world, and who broke
into the fortresses with their bodies and weapons
to shake the entity and security of this enemy and
its settlers. This is the way via which we are looking
forward to the conclusive victory, God willing.
This Intifada, likewise the resistance, will not
end into political reconciliations. Since the first
moment, it was ordained for this Intifada to ignite
in the name of Allah and the blessed blood of the
martyrs that was shed in al-Aqsa Mosque. Its martyrs
are seekers of Gods love and His meeting,
and nothing will weaken them or their will. This
is why this is the Intifada of Victory and Liberation,
and will create the miracle sooner than this world
could ever anticipate.
| |
"Today in Palestine, the Intifada is
also a state of defense. The Palestinians
did not assault anyone. They did not go to
Russia, Ukraine, Poland, or Ethiopia, in order
to kill the Jews. Instead, these Zionists
came from all over the world in order to usurp
the land, sacred places, cities, and villages
of the others. The Palestinians are doing
nothing but defending themselves, and all
the martyrdom operations with all of its targets
are moral, humane, legitimate, honorable,
and are allowable activities, because they
aim at eliminating tyranny, occupation, evil,
cancer, and corruption."
|
| |
On the Day of al-Quds, we must declare the following:
we are a nation who does not assault anyone. The
resistance in Lebanon was a movement that defended
the country, people, dignity, and still is. Today
in Palestine, the Intifada is also a state of defense.
The Palestinians did not assault anyone. They did
not go to Russia, Ukraine, Poland, or Ethiopia,
in order to kill the Jews. Instead, these Zionists
came from all over the world in order to usurp the
land, sacred places, cities, and villages of the
others. The Palestinians are doing nothing but defending
themselves, and all the martyrdom operations with
all of its targets are moral, humane, legitimate,
honorable, and are allowable activities, because

cancer, and corruption.

Therefore, we unveil the unjust treatment conducted
against Lebanon, Palestine, Arab, and Muslims, especially
at this stage, and this is because the people of
these regions are defending themselves. We are not
war mongers, and we do not want to create war against
anyone. But whoever assaults us, occupies our land,
soils our sacred places, and wants to disgrace us,
will find that our flesh is not edible, and our
blood will turn into erupting volcanoes that will
shake the land under their feet, regardless of the
identity of the aggressor, Jewish-Zionist or American-Zionist,
and regardless of which side this aggression and
invasion came from.
ON UNITY:
It is also our obligation on the Day of al-Quds
to maintain our alertness and give attention to
the American administration and the Zionist government
along with the autocrats of this world who will
work at this stage on crushing the remained strength
of our nation. Therefore, we will witness more incitement
to provoke the Arab and Muslim nation against each
other via inciting the national sensitive issues.
We are beginning to hear once more about some satellite
TV channels that show programs about Arab, Persian,
nations of Afghanistan, and other nations, inciting
them against each other. We will witness how enmity
and provoking Arab and Islam nations against each
other will take place. They will try to revitalize
hatred of the past among nations and countries.

|
| |
What is more dangerous is playing the religious
and sectarian strings. The Americans have spoken
about crusade in order to provoke Muslims and Christians
against each other, especially at this eastern region
of the Arab and Islam world. They have reached this
level of provocation, and what is worse is that
they will try to provoke sections against each other,
especially the Shia and the Sunni.

A Hizbullah commando in front of a

We are coming across a time in which the Muslims,
all Muslims, especially the Shia and Sunni need
to unify and cooperate, while each one may maintain
his ideological thoughts, concepts, and religious
matters. They all must cooperate in order to restore
al-Quds and defend the Palestinian people, their
religion, and their prophet Muhammad(SAW), who has
been accused by the greater men of the American
Zionistic Christianity as being a terrorist.
At this time Shias and Sunnis must unite to defend
the dignity of this nation against those who want
to change the map of the region and cause more separation
and divisions, causing people to search for a Shia
country here, or Sunni country there; an Arab country
here or a Kurdish country there. At this time there
are many new satellite TV channels in London and
other places, financed by American and Zionist capitalists.
There mission is to bring Shia and Sunni clerics
in order to start arguments and disputes of the
past, even the ideological matters have been incited
aiming at provocation, hatred, and raising tensions.
The American administration wants Muslims and Christians,
Arabs and non Arabs, Sunni and Shia, other countries
and sects, to divide and fight each other, in order
to fulfill the dreams of America and "Israel".
I should like to call upon people to maintain their
alertness and awareness, and to boycott these American
Zionist satellites. Those scientists, clerics, and
ideological and cultured people are wrong if they
ever thought that they were given the chance to
express their thoughts. They must realize that they
are nothing but tools played by American and "Israeli"
hands, in order to divide Muslims and incite their
hatreds. At this stage, we need to unite...
