Alert - Protest G4S : Securing Israel's Torture Dens - Fri 1st Feb 2013

inminds
29 January 2013

Join us on Friday 1st February 2013 at 2:00pm outside outside the G4S London HQ to protest at the security firm G4S's complicity in the caging and torture of Palestinians including children.

Friday 1st February 2013
2:00-4:00pm
G4S London HQ
105 Victoria Street, SW1E 6QT (Victoria Tube)

The British-Danish security firm G4S is providing security systems to help Israel secure prisons and interrogation centres where Palestinian children are being caged and tortured. These include Ofer prison in the occupied territory where G4S provides the perimeter defense system and the central command control room for the entire facility where hunger strikers Samer Issawi and Ayman Sharawna have been caged in the past, and the notorious Al Jalame interrogation centre in northern Israel with its Cell 36 where Defence for Children International reported children are locked in small filthy cells in solitary confinement, some for 65 days, with their only escape being the interrogation room where they are shackled by their hands and feet to a chair whilst being abused, sometimes for hours. G4S provides the security system that keep this torture den operational. G4S has also provides the central command control room at Megiddo prison where hunger strikers Yousef Yassin, Jafar Azzidine and Tarek Qa’adan were held before their health became critical.

G4S is also provides services and equipment to the illegal Israeli settlements, checkpoints and the wall.

The protest is also in solidarity with Palestinian hunger strikers. Ayman Sharawna and Samer Issawi have both been without food for over 6 months whilst Yousef Yassin, Jafar Azzidine and Tarek Qa’adan have each been without food AND liquid nutrients (just surviving on water alone) for over 2 months. All the hunger strikers are in critical condition with the Palestinian Minister for Prisoners Issa Qaraqe stating yesterday (28th Jan 2012) that Samer Issawi is now living his last hours.

We received a powerful message of support from the Shireen Issawi, former prisoner and sister of the hunger striker Samer Issawi:

In the name of Allah,
Love and respect to all of you, brother and sister,
who are fighting for Samer
whose battle of the empty stomach [hunger strike]
is now for 185 consecutive days.
You tell the whole world that Samer is not alone.
Samer’s fight is of every free man rejecting injustice.

Samer is suffering greatly in the so-called hospital, Asaf Harofeh;
he is suffering from medical neglect and is left shackled
to his bed day and night without any regard for his
critical condition and the importance of treating humanely..

We greet the demonstrators against G4S
that provides equipment for the prison administration.
G4S realizes that they are used in non-humanitarian ways
against Palestinian prisoners.

Deliver the voice of the oppressed prisoners
and hold this company G4S accountable
for its responsibility towards these prisoners
and its partnership to the occupation in its inhumane practices.
It must stop providing these supplies to the occupation...

Freedom for our prisoners; for our heroes

Shireen Issawi (sister of Palestinian hunger striker Samer Issawi)

Help us 'deliver the voice of the oppressed prisoners' and join us at G4S HQ on friday 2pm.

[On Muslim prisoners post-911] "Its important for us not just to be able to fight the case legally but also for somebody like him to get them moral support. One should not look at the fact whether or not somebody is convicted.. one should be looking at the fact there is an individual here who is suffering mentally, physically and needs support - just letters and cards to say to him 'Are you okay? Please do not give up hope' - support of that nature is important for individuals like Isa and others like him.. remember this much - he converted to Islam, he doesn't have a Muslim family - where as others may have a Muslim family, extended members who may write to them and support them. Give moral support, it really does help a prisoner when he is sitting in his cell locked up 23 hours of the day.."
